Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information MyVidLog ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. MyVidLog is operated by MyVidLog, part of DTE Media. By using myvidlog.com you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

Account information. When you sign in with Google, our authentication provider (Clerk) shares your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier so we can create and secure your account.
YouTube channel data. For your own channel and any rival channels you choose to track, we collect public information from YouTube — channel statistics (such as subscriber and view counts) and video metadata (titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, and view, like, and comment counts). We store periodic snapshots of this data so we can show how it changes over time.
Payment information. Paid plans are handled by Stripe. We store your plan, billing status, and a Stripe customer reference. We never see or store your full card number — that is held securely by Stripe.
Usage and device data. Like most websites, we record basic technical information such as your browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and log data, primarily for security and debugging.

How we use your information

Provide, operate, and maintain the service.
Track changes to your videos and link them to performance metrics.
Process subscriptions and manage your account balance and plan.
Generate AI insights when you explicitly request them.
Respond to support requests and send service-related messages.
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.

YouTube API Services

MyVidLog uses YouTube API Services to retrieve information about your channel and the channels you track. By using MyVidLog, you are also agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Information handled through these services is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

You can review and revoke MyVidLog's access to your Google and YouTube data at any time through the Google security settings. We refresh stored YouTube data on a regular schedule, and we delete or refresh it in line with YouTube's policies and your requests.

Google user data and the permissions we request

When you connect your Google account, MyVidLog requests only the access it needs to provide the service. We request the following Google API scopes:

openid, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email, and https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile — to sign you in and identify your account using your name, email address, and profile picture.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly — to read your YouTube channel and video information (such as titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, and statistics) so we can detect and display changes over time. This is read-only access; we never create, edit, or delete anything on your YouTube channel.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/yt-analytics.readonly — to read your YouTube Analytics (such as views, watch metrics, and subscriber data) so we can show how your content is performing and how performance moves in response to changes.

MyVidLog's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the features described in this policy. We do not transfer or sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and do not allow humans to read it except where you explicitly request support, it is necessary for security or to comply with the law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymised.

Service providers we share data with

We share data only with the providers that help us run MyVidLog, and only as needed:

Google / YouTube — channel and video data, and sign-in.
Clerk — account authentication and management.
Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
Google Gemini — generating AI insights and AI thumbnails, only when you ask for them.
Our hosting provider — running the application and storing your data.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and the channel data associated with you, except where we are required to keep certain records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under UK/EU GDPR and the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@myvidlog.com. You can also request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Cookies

We use essential cookies that keep you signed in and protect your session. These are required for the service to work; we do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

First-party analytics

We measure how the service is used with our own privacy-friendly, first-party analytics. When you view a page we record the page path, the referring website (if any), campaign tags from the link you followed (if any), a coarse device type (mobile, tablet or desktop), and an anonymous identifier derived from a one-way hash. We do not use analytics cookies and we never store your IP address or browser details. The identifier cannot reveal who you are; it only lets us count how often the same anonymous visitor returns within a rolling 28-day period, and we automatically delete raw analytics records after 90 days. This data is used solely in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the product, and is never shared with third parties.

Marketing emails

We only send marketing emails (product tips, feature news, and offers) to people who have given us explicit consent — for example by switching on "Product & offer emails" in your account settings. We rely on your consent as our lawful basis under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and we send at most one marketing email per week.

Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link (and a List-Unsubscribe header your email app can use), and you can also turn these emails off at any time from your account settings. When you unsubscribe we record your choice so we do not email you again, and we stop sending immediately. Withdrawing consent does not affect essential account and billing messages (such as receipts and security notices), which are not marketing.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries outside your own. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' safeguards to protect your information.

Children's privacy

MyVidLog is not intended for children. You must be old enough to hold a Google/YouTube account and to enter into a binding agreement in your country to use the service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
